With allegations of foreign interference in India’s internal affairs especially over the farm bills gathering steam, climate change activist Greta Thunberg’s tweet referring to a ‘Toolkit‘ (now deleted) revealed the sinister global campaign against India in the name of expressing solidarity with farmers. Her tweet which was shared widely had a link to a Google document (deleted now) which gave away the propaganda tweets, reference links, and the modus operandi of the online and offline campaigns to target the Indian government.
The documents clearly reveal that the tweets by global celebrities, online support for farmers protests in New Delhi and offline campaigns are anything but organic. The documents show that the entire campaign is a well-planned propaganda against the Indian government and an attempt to create unrest in India.
Several users who accessed the documents before they were made private and eventually deleted, noticed that the contents in the documents were clearly aimed to defame India and the present government internationally. Although Greta Thunberg has deleted the tweet and the documents are no longer available, the agenda of the ongoing global campaign in the name of support to farmers has been exposed.
What was in the document?
The document initially shared by Greta Thunberg listed a series of actions that people across the world could take to support the ‘farmer protests’ and also listed actions that had been undertaken. The document also made it clear that the global attempts to incite unrest in India had begun prior to the Republic Day riots.
The document titled ‘Global Farmer Strike First Wave’, requests people across the world to be a part of the ‘largest protest’ in human history. The objective is, apparently, to protest against the ‘unregulated corporatisation’ of the farming sector.
The document then proposes measures on the actions people can take to target the Indian government over the farm bills, which were passed democratically in the Indian parliament after due discussion and deliberation. The proposed measures include, “Call/Email any of your govt representatives and ask them to take action, Sign online Petitions and take action to Divest from monopolists and oligopolists like Adani-Ambani” and “Organise an on-ground action near the closest Indian Embassy, Media House or your local Govt. office on 13th February, 2020.”
The document also lists a series of ‘prior actions’ that were undertaken. These include, “Physical Actions – Near Indian Embassies, Govt. offices, Media houses (or even Adani-Ambani offices) globally – 26th January” and “Watch out for (or Join) the Farmers’ March / Parade (a first of its kind) into Delhi and back to the borders on 26th January.”
Co-ordinated anti-India campaign for Republic Day
The document shared by Greta Thunberg listed a series of actions that people across the world could take to support the ‘farmer protests’ and also listed actions that had been undertaken. The document also made it clear that the global attempts to incite unrest in India had begun prior to the Republic Day riots.
It states, “On 26th January, a major day of globally coordinated actions, Show your support at local physical locations, wherever you are. Either find protests happening in your city/state/country and participate in large (or small) numbers or organize one”, indicating that the campaign was well planned in advance to tarnish India’s image internationally on the important national day.
It adds, “In addition to the options below, you are encouraged to organise solidarity protests either at/near Indian Embassies, near your local Govt. offices or offices of various multinational Adani and Ambani companies. While we are focusing on the 26th, you are encouraged to continue organising gatherings as and when possible – for this is not going to end anytime soon”.
The document also urges individuals to participate in a ‘Global TweetStorm’ on the 23rd and 26th of January. The document also mentions @thepmo, @UNDP, @UNFAO @XRebellionInd (if on Instagram) and @PMOIndia, @UNDP_India, @nstomar, @XRebellionInd, @timestrolley (if on Twitter) as the accounts to tag in during the ‘TweetStorm’. The document also asks individuals to sign certain petitions.
Subsequently, Greta uploaded an ‘updated’ document for the protest agenda which was more of a sanitised version with much of the info in the previous document deleted.
Data of misinformation for Social Media
The documents also contained tweets that could be posted to build pressure against the Indian Government. The tweets from the document were used by numerous handles. Access to Toolkit documents has been made private after the backlash prompted by the tweet made by Greta Thunberg.
Twitter user Karan Rajan Menon managed to get a few screenshots of the live editing of that google docs document as it was happening. One of those who was editing the document was Marina Patterson, the name which was reflected in the screenshots taken by Menon.
The user Marina Patterson was clearly seen altering the document to share false news on the deaths during the protests. ‘One dead’ changes to ‘many reported dead’ to ‘many individuals are reported dead’.
Another user Prabat Yadav found that the credentials of the account in the name of Marina Patterson on twitter matches with the agenda of the document. The account @marinapatt operated from London was seen sharing tweets on farmer protests from various other handles.
Another user @dzkety investigated into the massive disinformation campaign using the details in the document created by Poetic Justice Foundation (more info below). This involved creating accounts to tweet the misinformation, text walls in various languages like Portuguese and French with titled instructions, sample video clips and messages.
The messages and links also targeted prominent Indian business houses by defaming them in the name of farmer protests.
Another document the user found was a kind of a “cheat sheet” which had a lot of misinformation related to PM Narendra Modi, BJP, RSS, and propaganda against Hindus, Kashmir, Article 370, CAA among other contentious issues. This throws more light on the nature of the campaign which was more anti-India rather than being pro-farmer.
Banned terror outfit SFJ behind global celebrities tweets?
The role of banned Khalistani organisation Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) was exposed by the same ‘tool kit’. The deleted tool kit which details on how to protest and outrage creation in social media worldwide from January second week leads to a newly created website known as AskIndiaWhy.com which is registered at a United Kingdom address.
As per a PGurus report, AskIndiaWhy.com is owned by Canada based Poetic Justice Foundation whose website is registered in Germany. Poetic Justice Foundation and SFJ relations are wide open. SFJ is a banned terror outfit by India. It is operating from Canada, London, Germany, US and Malaysia. It can be recalled that SFJ had announced a huge prize to those who could raise flags in Red Fort and India Gate during Republic Day.
Poetic Justice Foundations website (https://poeticjustice.foundation/) says: “Poetic Justice Foundation challenges structures of oppression and discrimination through inter-sectional grassroots advocacy.
One of the founders of Poetic Justice Foundation, which owns the website AskIndiaWhy referred in a document shared by Greta Thunberg is Mo Dhaliwal has spoken in support of the Khalistan movement.
Earlier, celebrities and politicians including Rihanna, Greta Thunberg, Mia Khalifa and Canadian MP Jagmeet and others had come forward in support of the farmer protests. But the document shared by Greta has made it clear that it is part of a larger conspiracy to cause unrest in India.
Ministry of External Affairs has issued a statement and called all such posts as “neither accurate nor responsible” and termed them as “temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others”.
Indian celebrities and leaders including Sachin Tendulkar, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty and many others have come forward to stand with the government in the fight against the international propaganda to cause unrest in India. #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda were trending on Twitter the whole day to express anger and anguish against the motivated anti-India campaign on social media.
