Corona Virus Genetically Engineered in Chinese Lab with Funding from US: Wuhan Lab Scientist

A scientist who worked closely with the Wuhan lab has claimed that the Covid-19 virus was genetically engineered, and leaked from the lab, reports The Sun. In his new book – The Truth About Wuhan – whistleblower Dr Andrew Huff claims the pandemic was the result of the US government’s funding of dangerous genetic engineering of coronaviruses in China.

According to The Sun report, Dr Andrew Huff, an epidemiologist and former vice president of EcoHealth Alliance, accuses authorities of a cover-up and points the finger squarely at the US for funding China’s gain-of-function experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He has termed the Corona Virus episode as the “biggest US intelligence failure since 9/11”.

Dozens of experts have suggested Covid could have escaped from the Wuhan lab through an infected researcher, improper disposal of waste, or potential breaches in the security at the site.

In his book, Dr Andrea writes: “EcoHealth Alliance and foreign laboratories did not have the adequate control measures in place for ensuring proper biosafety, biosecurity, and risk management, ultimately resulting in the lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

According to the New York Post report on the book, Huff claims that China’s gain-of-function experiments were conducted with inadequate security, resulting in a leak at the Wuhan lab. For more than a decade, the EcoHealth Alliance has been studying several coronaviruses in bats with funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has forged close ties to the Wuhan lab. The NIH is the primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and public health research, the report added.

Huff, stated that the non-profit assisted the Wuhan lab for many years in developing the “best existing methods to engineer bat coronaviruses to attack other species.”

“China knew from day one that this was a genetically engineered agent,” Huff writes in his book. “The US government is to blame for the transfer of dangerous biotechnology to the Chinese. “I was terrified by what I saw,” he told The Sun. “We were just handing them bioweapon technology”, he said.
