Need effective mechanism to address global vaccine inequity: India in UNSC

India has said that there is a need for an effective mechanism to address global vaccine inequity. Addressing the UNSC on behalf of India, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador T S Tirumurti further said that a rapid and effective vaccination drive is needed to mitigate further mutation of the virus. Ambassador Tirumurti also said that India has offered to share its CoWin platform as “digital public good to the world”. India and Russia have agreed to work closely together on key issues on the UNSC agenda. The declaration came after the bilateral consultations on UNSC issues held on 16 February 2021 in Moscow.
