China Pakistan Military Nexus

By SamvadaWorld Staff Dec 1, 2021 #China

As Pakistan faces more restrictions to get weapons from the US and other countries due to its support to terrorism, China has filled the vacuum. China is providing weapons to boost Islamabad’s conventional and nuclear arsenal, apart from all kinds of military equipment.

China has sold military equipment to Pakistan under its five weapons program which include Nuclear Weapons, JF-17 Fighters, Rocket Launchers, Battle Tanks and missile systems. China provided significant assistance to the Pakistani nuclear weapons program by providing missile components, warhead designs, and highly-enriched uranium.

Pakistan’s Nuclear Weapons were boosted by China to develop the necessary military deterrent against India starting from the early 1980s. It is alleged that China could help further develop Pakistan’s Nuclear Weapons circumventing the Nuclear Supplier Group’s norms.

The JF-17 fighter is the new premier multirole fighter of the Pakistan Air Force, supplanting the position previously held by American F-16Cs.

The A-100 is one of the latest Multiple rocket launcher systems from China in Pakistan’s possession which are now being indigenously produced.

The VT-1A battle tanks have thermal gunner’s sights, a panoramic commander’s sight, and a 125mm gun.

The Pakistan Army has acquired the Chinese HQ-16 medium-range surface to air missile for the defense of its formations on the ground.

One of the major aspects that Pakistan has focused on military acquisition from China has been acquiring the necessary Air Defense for its Ground Forces. Pakistan is also in negotiations to buy the longer-ranged Chinese HQ-9 system, a Chinese analogue to the Russian S-300 long-range surface to air missiles.

Analysts opine that the Chinese military equipment could be used by Pakistan to build up pressure against India whenever things heat up with Beijing at the Line of Actual Control.
