Why US will be ill-advised to sanction India over its purchase of Russia’s S-400 air defence system

US India share values of democracy, free trade, liberal entrepreneurship, human rights, peaceful change of elected governments, fight against terrorism.
American security and defense needs are coinciding with India’s concerns. India is a direct victim of Jihad sponsored by Pakistan, ISIS, Al Qaeda, while America is fighting the same elements from South Asia to the Middle East and across the world.
The Rise of China and threat to freedom of navigation, usurping land, air space, water, forcing drought on riparian states, debt trap diplomacy and change of borders unilaterally, have made both India and America see the world in the same light in defence of democracy.
The cutting-edge S-400 system is superior to the patriot air defence system in all aspects and India has to cater to its own pressing needs.
– Long standing US-India ties and growing US-India defence deals worth billions of dollars cannot be risked over a strategically important deal with Russia.
It is for India to decide what weapons it needs and how it safeguards its 1.3 Billion people. The US should not see India from its own vision of Russia but be sympathetic to its own needs.

Amartya Sen: A Bengali Scholar Who Misrepresents Bengal

Amartya Sen, since 2014 has turned into a ‘sen’sational political commentator. Stationed in America, he expressed his strong dislike of having Modi as Indian Prime Minister.
Amartya Sen maintains golden silence on why his paternal house at Dhaka became permanently inaccessible to him. He couldn’t present any scholarly logic to explain Islamic Terror but described it as Land Reform.
Amartya Sen claimed the cultural ethos of Bengal didn’t ever include Lord Ram & “Jai Shree Ram” was no phrase for Bengalis. The reality is diametrically opposite.
Sen’s claim that Ram is not a part of Bengal is a sad statement of falsification & appears crudely rooted in political mal-intention.
In regular religious gatherings in different localities of Bengal, RAMAYAN GAAN was a pious routine performance. In household religious rituals like NAM SANKIRTAN & HARIR LOOT, Ram & Ramayana were & still are worshipped in Bengal.
Rabindranath Tagore in his poem ‘PURASHKAR’ has described the spirit of both RAMAYANA & MAHABHARATA in such brevity & so lucidly that they leave a permanent mark in readers’ mind.

Bill to strip Pakistan of its status as a major non-NATO ally of the United States introduced in the US House of Representatives

Republican Congressman Andy Biggs introduced a bill in the US House of Representatives to terminate the designation of Pakistan as a Major non-NATO Ally. The bill if passed by the house, will strip away Pakistan’s designation as a major non-NATO ally, a designation that gives the countries to entry into cooperative research and development projects with the Department of Defense (DoD) on a shared-cost basis, participation in certain counter-terrorism initiatives, purchase of depleted uranium anti-tank rounds, priority delivery of military surplus (ranging from rations to ships).

Left forays into Tech companies – Google workers, demanding change at work, Launch a ‘First of its Kind’ Union in the Silicon Valley

A union called the Alphabet Workers Union (AWU) has been formed with more than 400 Google engineers and other workers as its members
AWU says that despite few successes through organised efforts, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation persists at Google.
“That isn’t the company we want to work for. We deserve a workplace that respects us, where we can work for a fair wage without fear of abuse or discrimination”, says AMU
The AMU members say that this is primarily an effort to give structure and longevity to activism at Google, rather than to negotiate for a contract.
